Documents from ELP's papers

These are some interesting documents taken from a small notebook of ELP.

This first one intrigues me in particular. It talks of Ann going through the "house," which, based on the rest of the paragraph, makes me think he's referring to the Endowment House in Salt Lake City, where Ann received her endowments 17 July 1857. At the bottom of the sheet, ELP mentions James G. Bleak, a noted historian of southern Utah in the 19th century.

Mary Ellen Parry's book "Child Culture," 1902

Several years ago, my father was shopping in a thrift store when he picked up this book (he loves to collect old books). It has only been in the last month that he realized that he had purchased the book of one of his relatives! Her name is Mary Ellen Parry Cox (1862-1912), and she is a daughter of Edward Lloyd Parry! The Lord moves in mysterious ways. (Click on the images for a better view.)

ELP's Grandmother, Mary Jones (16 May 1778-1856)

Thanks to the "Sunflower Lady" for sending me this picture of the grandmother of Edward Lloyd Parry. She is the mother of ELP's father, also named Edward Parry (1792-1867). (As I look at the birth year of ELP's dad, and the birth year of ELP's grandmother, things just don't make sense. There must be an error somewhere in family history. I highly doubt that Mary Jones had Edward, her fourth child, when she was 14! If anyone can clarify these birth years, please e-mail me.)
