Stone Carved by EL Parry & Sons

A few weeks ago my father and I met up with a fellow descendant of ELP, a gentleman who lives in Woodland Hills, UT. Knowing that we are avidly attempting to unite and preserve all things dealing with ELP's life, he graciously offered us a stone that he had inherited. I believe it is sandstone. It measures approximately 2' X 2' and is approximately 1' high. The top has an unfinished, uneven surface, which makes us think that perhaps it originally had another stone covering it on top and was not intended to be seen. The large hole in the center is not original. The gentleman who gave us the stone said he drilled it and used the stone as a flagpole base for several years.

If you have an idea as to what this stone was originally used for (gravestone? but what stonemason puts his name on someone else's gravestone?) or any other information about it, please contact me.
